HP Scitex TJ8500 press unleashes new large format capabilities at Graphics House Imaging

PALO ALTO, Calif., Sept. 26, 2007 — HP today announced that Graphics House Imaging, a diversified graphic communications provider based in Muskegon, Mich., recently completed the installation of an HP Scitex TJ8500 wide-format digital press, dramatically expanding its digital print production capabilities while also enhancing print quality and increasing print run volumes on everything from floor graphics to event sponsorship banners.

With the HP Scitex TJ8500's high throughput, durable UV inks and wide range of substrates, Graphics House Imaging can now affordably produce short-run and high volume jobs for a variety of applications – ranging from billboards, signage and bus shelters to indoor applications that require high print quality and legible type as small as 8-point such as POP/POS and exhibition panels.

"The HP Scitex TJ8500 is helping us fill the gaps in terms of what we are able to offer our customers digitally," said Brent McKinnon, vice president, Graphics House Imaging. "Projects we used to print on offset or silkscreen, we now produce on the HP Scitex TJ8500 with phenomenal performance, quality and speed."

Early adopter focused on expanding its customer base

As an early adopter of digital technology, Graphics House Imaging has had a long-term relationship with HP, implementing innovative solutions that are simple, accessible, and ensure high quality into their workflow. Having the latest digital print technologies helps the firm meet the ever-evolving needs of its broad customer base, which includes professional sports graphics for the minor leagues, wholesale large format printing for small print providers and transportation signage for municipalities.

The company's confidence in HP technology can be observed in its existing production portfolio, which also includes the HP Scitex Grand and the HP Scitex XL1500 – all supported with an infrastructure of 60 new HP desktops, servers and workstations.

"To remain competitive in today's market, print providers require flexibility and versatility across a broad range of applications," said Gal Barak, director and general manager, HP Scitex Americas. "HP has built its portfolio to meet the diverse printing needs of its customers and Graphics House Imaging realizes the benefits of HP technology that is simple, accessible and ensures high quality output."

With the installation of the new HP Scitex TJ8500, Graphics House Imaging continues to grow its business, taking on more complex jobs and offering creative professionals more opportunities with the press' broad range of digital printing options.

"We can now bid on large format jobs that other screen printers won't touch because of a low quantity, for example," said Charles Mortenson, graphics director, Graphics House Imaging. "With the HP Scitex TJ8500, our cost per print is cheaper right from the start, and the quality is excellent. That makes us very competitive."
